In reply to: Jerry Simmons 's message, "GA Clevelands" on Wed, May 30 2001, 0:10:00

Okay, Southern Clevelands/Cleavelands, I need a little help. I have concluded that my
Mary Cleveland who married Daniel Cumbie in 1832 in Pike County, GA, was probably a
daughter of James Cleveland.

James Cleveland shows up on the census in Pike County in 1840,and a James Cleveland
married, Mary Mcswain on 13 Aug 1835 in Pike County.

I also found a Wiley Cleveland in the Will Index for Pike County, GA - have not had a
chacne to see tha actual will yet.

I know that the Elbert county Clevleands have some James among them - do they
connect?

There is a James Cleveland in Stewart County in 1850. This is of interest, because
Daniel and Mary Cleveland Cumbie were had moved there - she died in Stewart County,
GA, abt 1845.

In November, 1846, Daniel Cumbie remarried to Amy Jackson, creating either another
possible tie, or a very interesting coincidence, because there was a James Cleveland
who married Fanny Jackson on 30 Dec 1841 in Henry County, Georgia.

In reviewing other census records, I find that there was a James Cleveland on the
1803 Tax List in Frnklin County, GA and on the 1830 census in Elbert County, GA.

Any information or assistnce with hese folks would be very much appreciated.

Jack Butler

I'm looking for information re:
Wilburn Alonzo Ralph Cleveland. He grew up in Locust Grove Georgia in the late 1800's. Do you have any information?
Thanks Ann
