I am a parent of a child who was diagnosed with mild mental retardation. He is going into 6th grade in September and I'm dreading it. I know its going to get harder not easier. I can barely afford the $6K a year for private school tuition, I can't even imagine paying $30-40k! My son is 13 and although he has improved from when he was in LAUSD, he too can barely read or write. It is very frustrating.
