We work with similar students, but focus on motivated high school dyslexic students, who are normally 3-4 grade levels behind in reading and writing. After conducting a multi-year study we have found that a more efficient way to overcome the students reading problems is to write to read.
First the students writing problem’s need to be corrected. Most importantly is the student’s problem with spelling and grammar. We found by focusing on organization skills and analytical content the dyslexic students spelling and grammar mostly self corrects, with minimum time commitment from the teacher.
Once the students writing issues are generally corrected, asking the student to write an article on first year graduate level material quickly solves the students reading problems.
