OH, I feel your pain, and your phrase "walking on egg shells" actually came out of my mouth last week. My son is 8 and in the process of being diagnosed, but I am positive he is dyslexic. He is SOOOO moody and sensitive and it comes out of nowhere! He refuses to accept compliments, is always saying he can't do things and he is bad at things, even when he isn't. We have learned NOT to make things exciting if we are going somewhere fun, it sets him up for failure. And if we do go it invariably ends up with him pouting or crying because he can't do something right or someone is watching him. He definately can't take a joke and as well can't understand any jokes without indepth explanation as to what it means and why it is funny. He is clumsy, always falling and/or causing accidents. He has never been interested or successful at sports. Oh I could go on for days! I know I don't have any offer of help, but I do want you to know you are not alone. I believe it goes hand-in-hand with the dyslexia.
This is tough on these little boys!
