We have a reading specialist at our school who is very much off base with working with dyslexic children. One of my boys gets soooo frustrated with her. I have decided to take an OG course myself and run both of my boys through it. When my oldest dd went through OG she became an excellent reader. If you put the OG or similar tutoring with an understanding of how dyslexics difference in processing information then many of the kids in their class it becomes a winning situation. One without the other just keeps you juggling your eggs from basket to basket. When my dd became that great reader I thought all our problems were going to be eliminated. It wasn't until my dyslexic husband began to educate me on how differently (not wrongly, I might add) we both thought that I began to make headway. We don't have all the answers yet, but even with four dyslexic children in school I don't have too many days anymore that I don't feel we are moving forward!
