I have a 2nd grade son with dyslexia. Most of the time schools don't have the resources to help. They don't know how to help. They don't use the proper programs, nor have trained teachers for these programs. Unless you can take the schools to court until they provide what is appropriate- then you have to do the remediation on your own. This entails getting a tutor, teaching reading yourself, re-enroll in a private dyslexia school or see if there are free O.G. programs to enroll in.
If you fight the school- you MIGHT win private school or paid tutoring. This is a long difficult and wasteful journey for families. Sometimes you prepay for these services and ask for the school to pay you back.
The easiest for us was for me to teach my son to read. It took me two months. (After school he worked with me for 4-5hrs a week.)The school probably could never do it! I am in now way saying he is top of his class in reading- up we caught up and we will be working with him for a while more.
You need to find the right path to go down -what is right for your family and your child. Then find the right method to teach with. I wish you luck. Remember- research everything thoroughly so time is not wasted, time is precious for your child.
