Wow your neuro sounds like the one I experienced. Listen only you know your child. My child is highly intelligent, I took him to a Dr. with suspect of dyslexia intially and recieved the same. These Dr.'s alot are in kickbacks with other Dr.'s and Med sales people. If you do not trust that Dr. see another or don't bother at all just do what you can to seek help for your child. Do NOT trust that Dr. they are all too quick to diagnose our boys with this problem. ADHD children have a neurological sensor in their brain that needs to be stimulated constantly. Simple things that stimulate other children do not stimulate them, that is why they are constantly trying to do so. My son does not have a attention problem at all and if I had taken what she had said at face value, my sons dyslexia would have gone undiagnosed and he would be on medication. The other problem with these Dr.'s is that a simple test is not enough, there is a bigger picture here. Does your child have behavior problems in school? does he blurt out innapropriately, impulsivity problems? You would know, you would be getting calls from school, or discussions with teachers during parent teacher conference. My point is diagnosis of anything as such needs to have a greater picture, interviews with parents, teachers, coaches. Whomever this child spends a great deal of time with, not just a one hour test given by a Dr. Please do not take this diagnosis, sweep it under the rug as if it were not there, dig further. No ONE knows your child as you do, if you suspect that is not the case and it is something else, fight for your child. Keep persuing it elsewhere. I am glad I did, after several hundred dollars, it took the schools special ed teacher taking my son at risk to see what his problem was to tell me what I knew in my heart was the issue dyslexia. I trusted her due to her contact with my sons previous teachers, and the time she spent with him (one hour a day 5 days a week). To me after two months of this she had a true overview of my sons difficulties and issues. This woman has 30 years experience to boot.
