My daughter has dyslexia and other specific learning difficulties. She also has Tourette Syndrome, which means she has vocal and motor tics (involuntary movements and sounds. Drama has always been her favourite subject. Her reasons?
1. There is no right or wrong because drama is your own interpretation. This makes a change from being told you have got your work wrong or spelt something wrong or havent understood correctly.
2. When you are acting you are playing a part therefore you are not being yourself and can escape from your normal worries and set backs.
3. When she is acting she NEVER tics. Possibly because she is playing the part of another person or maybe she is just enjoying it so much she is stress free for a while!
Drama has been the only lesson my daughter has ever enjoyed at school. She is on study leave for her GCSE's at the moment (We're in UK) and the only exam she has not been stressed about is her drama.
