 My son was picked up at 6 he is now nearly 13. I did the dyslexia course so that i could understand and i taught him to read using Toe by Toe by Keda Cowling that is simple to use and suitable for all ages. I cannot recommend it enough but ultimately it is about time and not focussing on the negatives of being dyslexic all the time I also did optometrist and it was a waste of time. Hang in there and try to focus on the skills they do have. My son now reads daily by choice and i never thought i'd see it.
