I have a grand son who has been diagnosed with dyslexia also . I and my son and daughter-in-law feel just like you, to the point of me calling the Govoners office for help. I was told to get in touch with our states Legislator ,which will be going into a session in January of this next year and try to get enough people to voice their opion on how the states are leaving these children hanging out to dry. It is not considered a diablity but it's not considered a specail or specific learning disabliity either. So by the laws we have, our school systems are sort of "hands tied", unless a law is passed to require the state to consider that these children are in great need of help to learn another way of teaching.SPECIAL help. No one on our school board will or can make adequate acommidations to see to it he is taught in a way in which he will over come this dyslexia. So I urge all you parents and grand parents to contact you legislator before they go in 2010 session and voice your request for the government to require the states and school boards to have children tested before they are so far behind they are put in a special education class and then still not taught the Orthin Gillham method of learning. Write letters to you local legislator and lets all stick together for these children who are in the cracks of the red tape. And are being left behind to struggle so.
