Oh, I don't expect you to feel sorry for us. We certainly don't feel sorry for ourselves, nor do we expect pity. It is simple fact that there are those of us who do not want conquest, who are tired of this war and the many deaths it has caused. But it will not stop the Empire from advancing its initiative on Earth. Our leaders are much too interested in the seven billion potential hosts here, which to them is a unique natural resource. Nowhere else, that we have found, is there a planet with such an incredible number of unknowing (for the most part) hosts, who are not too advanced for us to attempt to infiltrate, and who possess very good, infestable bodies.

That is why we are here.

We did find the Taxxons. Many of them have agreed to work with us. But I can't imagine many who would want to give up their free will for the freedom of a race of parasites. Can you? Therein lies the dilemma. It is also why many of my people have begun to work with their hosts in mutual agreement, although their identities are mostly unknown to our leaders. It would be deadly to be recognized as such.

The book series has taken a few...liberties. For example, how races look or what comprises their history. Many things are true, but more are deliberately shrouded or misleading.

And if you must know, we are not very sluglike, and not so small as one to two inches. Perhaps more like five or six. I've never actually measured myself.
