No. They cannot. They must adhere to the rules of their own age group.

[> [> Except that it isn't the stage monitor's responsibility to ask each dancer his/her age. If someone is coming from out of region with a blinged dress and the dancer's comp has been merged up to an age that allows bling, it's fairly safe to for the dancer wear the blinged outfit. -- If the dancer is from within the region, they should have an unblinged dress so a non-issue., 14:18:14 06/07/17 Wed (cpe-65-189-55-125.cinci.res.rr.com/65.189.55.125)

[> [> [> true, but they likely wouldn't have to ask since U9s and U10s dance different hard shoe steps. -- No name, 14:53:30 06/07/17 Wed (NoHost/198.120.236.18)

[> [> [> [> Not necessarily. My daughter is OC and has opted to TJ when other dancers her age group were doing HP. She has done SJ when the other dancers were doing RL. There is no obligatin to do the steps that will be performed at NANs/Oireachtas. The dancer can choose what they want to dance and they aren't locked into what MOST of the dancers are doing. -- So no, the monitors can't tell by by the dances a dancer is doing., 15:08:20 06/07/17 Wed (cpe-65-189-55-125.cinci.res.rr.com/65.189.55.125)

[> Here's the rule text: "4. In order to compete in Mid-America feiseanna, dancers from the youngest age group up to and including Under 9 in all categories must follow our regional guidelines for U8 and U9 costume rules. This will go into effect January 2015. all Mid-America region feiseanna, boys and girls competing in age groups up to and including Under 9 must follow the costume rule as stated: Effective January 2015, at...." -- So it's by age group, not age.
