Subject: The virus is new, but evidence does show at least short-term immunity after recovery, which is why they are working so hard on vaccines. A handful of people have become sick again, but their initial infections were very mild & may not have produced enough antibodies to prevent a second infection. There is also the possibility these individuals were still infected & the "2nd" infection was just a flare up of the first. Still many unknowns.
In reply to: 's message, "Can I be infected with COVID-19 twice? there is currently no evidence to suggest that people are immune after recovering from coronavirus. Even if novel coronavirus infection imparted immunity, that immunity could be short-lived and last only a few weeks or months. This would leave people vulnerable to reinfection later." on 03:37:44 11/20/20 Fri

Yes, you can get it twice. A very dear friend of mine is currently sick for the second time.

I should add she was very sick the first time she had it. We are praying this time around will not be as bad.
