Subject: Could someone clarify the rules for moving from Prelim to Open in the MidAmerica region for me? We're moving from another region and have a prelim dancer. I read the syllabus for a feis, but it's so different from what our region requires, I want to make sure I understand it properly.

If you get two firsts in the same calendar year, you can move up or you can stay in PC until the next year. So, if you get two firsts in 2021, you can continue to dance in PC for the rest of 2021 or move up, but you have to move up January 1, 2022.

If you get your second PC in a subsequent calendar year to your first, then you have to move right away after the second win. So, if you had a first in 2020 and got your second first in 2021, you have to move up right after the second win. You can’t wait until 2022.

Hope that make sense.

[> [> The exception is back to back feiseanna that are held the same weekend. So, if the second 1st is Saturday, the dancer can remain in PC on Sunday, but has to move up for the next feis after that weekend (if the 2nd first is a subsequent year). Also, many schools do not allow dancers to move up until January 1st if the 1sts are all the same year. -- HTH, 11:55:02 09/18/21 Sat (mta-98-29-135-211.columbus.rr.com/98.29.135.211)
