Subject: generic glucophage

i have been taking glucophage for some time. two days ago pharmacy substituted metformin by danbury as generic since insurance would only pay for generic. i noticed a vanilla smell and flavor (not unpleasant, just different) and after 4 doses have itching on back and arms. has anyone else had problems switching to generic?

I havent had skin problems but my stomach had been upset bad like when I went on glucophag 4 years ago. My friend of mine is a nurse and suggested I try the new one thats once a day which I thought might be harder on my stomach but she says its actually easier so I might try it if my doctor thinks its okay.

I recently was switched to the generic form of glucophage last week. Since the 1st day of the switch my sugars have been noticeably higher after meals. I have called my doctor and he is switching to glucophage XR which I hope will help. Has anyone else had this problem?

I've been on the generic for two months and fasting blood sugars have been consistently higher, despite increased exercise. Am interested in any preliminary reports on this if anyone see them. XR is nice, but expensive, about 3X the generic cost.

I have been getting Metformin from Canada for over a year now. It costs me $47.00 for a three month supply. I take 1000 MG 2 times a day. In town it used to cost me $90.00 a month. Contact me off list if you want the pharmacy that I use in Canada. I get my meds in 10 days.
