Subject: Thrombosis?

A dear friend has what her Hepatologist suspects is Thrombosis. She has swelling of the liver, spleen; and alot of swelling in legs. She's done tx 3 times now; only once going undetected (she is into cirrhosis) How common is Thrombosis? Has anyone here heard much, or know anything about this? I would like to be more informed. From what little I could find to read, it seems to be a complication of hepc / cirrhosis.
Thanks.
Doris

Doris, I haven't seen anything about this connection although it does make sense since there is damage to the portal vein in HCV. Why don't you do a search using the terms hepatitis and thrombosis? You might be able to find some information.

Susie, I have done a few searches before I posted...not alot of info out there. I did find out that it is connected to liver disease, but is usually a heart condition. The swelling of spleen is from the portal hypertension...Thrombosis is what her Doc suspects. I was just curious if others here knew anything on this topic. Thanks Susie:)

Doris, are you talking about PVT (portal vein thrombosis) (blood clot in the portal vein)?
I have some info on PVT if you need it.
(It's tied in with cirrhosis in general---not specifically because of HCV.)
