When will people learn that banning things is, at best, useless and at worst counter-productive, while always being oppressive?

There is, as you all know, little or no correlation between gun laws and crime. Criminals will use whatever is available. If we made all guns disappear, cruder weapons would suffice. Therefore, we have to reduce the amount of criminals. The best chance of that is, unfortunately, the welfare state. It has proved fairly successful so far.
