Of course we'd rather see Saddam gone.

What I personally object to is the -possibility- that one country (that being the US) should have the power to forcibly impose its will on another country.
If the whole world agrees to another war, then we all go in together. But the thought of the United States taking unilateral action (and our government supporting it) is more frightening to me than Saddam staying in power.

There has been no serious attempt by the Iraqis to overthrow their leader, even with US help.
Now Saddam is allegedly taking the ultimate risk, by arming large sections of his civilian population. He's giving them the means to overthrow him if they choose, but gambling that they'll stay loyal to his regime.

If they're not willing to change themselves, who the hell are we to go and force change on them?
