Subject: Grave Dedication

I am President of Shiloh Chapter 2538 UDC and have been asked to assist with a grave marker dedication Sunday, May 20 at 3 PM at Snow Hill Cemetery about 7 miles north of Farmersville. Mike Thompson contacted me in March and asked if we could do it in April, but that conflicted with our own Confederate Memorial Day Ceremony. He is a member of Snow Hill Cemetery Association and needed to schedule it on their meeting day, but with our April conflict; that only left May before everyone scatters for the summer. I only learned of this date on Thursday, so have been scrambling to get things together. This is my first marker event to organize, so I would really appreciate any help as a result of this very short notice. I was wondering whether you help with marker ceremonies outside the 9th TX.

We want a unit to post colors as well as fire volleys. I have borrowed flag stakes from our District, so that has been taken care of. If the weather is beautiful; we will hold the service for the 14 Confederate soldiers in the cemetery. If it is raining; we will hold the service inside the church there. I would certainly be willing to make a donation to your group and/or help with gas money and a light meal will be served to the men as well.

I know there are many conflicts this time of year with all sorts of memorials and dedications, but if you could help; that would be wonderful. If you can not and know of some of the men in the area; I would appreciate your suggestions. These soldiers deserve to be remembered for their dedication to service and to the South, and I want this service to be as perfect for them as possible. Thank you for your help.
