Hello.

Here is the legal way to use NOR/NAND flash drivers avoiding GPL problems:

1. Compile kernel that supports all 486CORE's hardware except flashes
THE KERNEL MUST BE COMPILED WITH BUGS-almostFREE VERSION OF GCC, I.E. 2.95. Do not use GCC 2.96 that comes with latest RedHats, it builds RAMdisk support incorrectly.
Do not forget RAMdisk and Initrd support.
2. Build your RAMdisk image, include drivers for NOR/NAND flashes in this image.
3. Put the kernel and RAMdisk image on a NOR flash
4. Load it either with SYSLINUX or LOADLIN
(example: LOADLIN BZIMAGE initrd=Image.gz root=/dev/ram)
Almost any linux on a floppy disk uses this way to boot linux (example: LRP project).

After linux is loaded you may insmod flash drivers.

Best regards,
Dimitry.
