- You can be 'pinged' for a deliberate forward pass wherever in the field of play;
- You cannot be offside in your own ingoal, which does not mean you cannot be dealt with for the 'knockon' etc. You just cannot be penalised.
- I have never seen anyone penalised fro a deliberate knockon. Never. More often then not Refs play advantage or the scrum. The main issue is "deliberate" or intent. It is very hard to prove that your intended to deliberately knock the ball forward - most claim "intercept" etc.
- Propelling the ball is actually giving the ball motion. So realistically a pass that is thrown forward is propelling the ball toward the opponents dead ball line etc. But remember it must be done with the arms or hands OR head. The rest of the body doesnt count and its play on..eg a player passes the ball correctly, hits another players chest, goes forward, the player picks the ball up and scores. Decision? TRY. It is NOT a "knockon".
