Zackery

The term Y in the equation Y= tan(X) - X is referred to as the involute function of X or Y=Inv(X).

(X is in radians.)

Therefore
20 Degrees in radians is .3490659
and
Y = Inv (.3490659) = tan(.3490659) - .3490659 = .014904334

Now, if you are looking for the inverse involute function

ArcInv(.014904334) = .3490659

it is a more complicated matter.

Our company does sell a small package that will calculate the inverse involute function for you using excel.

The cost of the package is $89.99 plus handling. Email us if you are interested in this package
