• Jon's eyes widen at her question. "What do you have?" he asks, with a slightly guilty glance at Mackai and Kaleb as he barely restrains himself from following Aura - literally - on her heels. He keeps a strained distance of about five feet in between Aura and himself, sternly reminding himself that this strange person simply 'was not to be trusted'. • Kaleb followed Aura much closer than the other two. Mackai kept her distance with Jon. Aura started rummaging through the cupboards and, pulling out various foods, replied, "Let's see...there's some jerky, cheese, bread...I guess I could also make some cookies or if you're really hungry I could go catch us something." As if in response Kaleb's belly rumbled again. • At the mention of cookies Kaleb's eyes lit up and Mackai managed a, "Cookies would be nice," Aura smiled and replied, "Cookies it is then." She began rummaging through the kitchen again. She had soon assembled the ingredients and soon the smell of fresh baked cookies wafted through the air. Aura pulled out the first sheet, "Why don't you start on these and I'll get us some nice cold milk." She sat the sheet on the table and returned with the milk and four glasses.   • Jon, the all-knowing and naturally superior 9-year-old, rolls his eyes at Kaleb's chattering and looks at Mackai.   • The basement was dark except for a candle on a table in the center of the room. It cast eerie shadows in the room. Mackai gave a small shudder. Once they were all in the basement Aura closed the door blocking out the light from upstairs. She then went to the table and said "It's going to be dark but you can't really see what I'm going to show you with the lights on." With that she blew out the candle. The room was pitch black for a few seconds. Then Aura opened her eyes. If you recall they were an amber color. They began to glow in a freakishly weird way. Aura relit the candle. "Do you kids know anything about werewolves?" she asked casually. The light revealed something that was not noticeable before. • Jon blinks, thrown off by Aura's friendly manner. Extremely confused, he utters the exceptionally intellectual, "What?" frequently found in situations such as this. To elaborate his meaning, by saying "What?" what Jon really means (it just got stuck after the first word) is: "What do you mean you don't mean us any harm? Why are there chains in here? Why did you bring us in here? What do you mean by talking about werewolves? Why are your eyes glowing? Help! I'm so confused!!!!!"   • Mackai and Kaleb looked very confused as well. Aura looked at them all trying to figure out how to say is simply. "I'm a werewolf." she repeated "My eyes are one way to identify me as such. After I was biten I had no where else to go so I came back here away from all of the people. This is where I come when it's time for me to change. I chain myself up so that there is no chance of my getting loose." She sighed she didn't know why she was telling the children all of this. It had just been so long since she'd had anyone to talk to. • Aura sighed. She still didn't fully understand why she was doing this. She hadn't told anyone in a long time. She had forced herself into hermitage and, indeed, had not met anyone back her until now. She wondered if she should regret her actions. She was probably seriously damaging these kids, scaring them for life or something. So why was she doing it? For all she knew these kids could run off and tell the Council or someone else. Then where would she be. If they let her live she would be banished, exiled, but it was too late now in any case. She smiled at the children, "No not for a while.   • Catica follows in behind. "He hasn't exactly told me much either. I haven't known him but a short time. In that time, I have picked up that he has lost a great deal of his past memories but has a few glimpes here and there. He remembered enough to find his way to Carnerik and he remembered Crello for some reason. • "That's tough," Phoenix sympathized while leading her friend through the clutter of her house. They step through one final door which appeared to be a small library and study combined. Piles of paper were strewn haphazardly about and several comfortable couches and cushiouns lay about the room. She selected one of these couches that had a table in front of it then set the orb on the table. It started to roll off. After several failed attempt at getting it to stay Phoenix gave up and sat it down on the couch. She then retreated to the bookshelves, selected several anscient texts and brought them back to the table.   • Catica picks up the orb, "It looks like some type of sand script. That can make it difficult to decipher. Wait..." She comes across a cetain symbol, "This I would swear from all my training to mean 'time.' Oh, and this one must be 'future.'" The future symbol is about 3 sybols to the left of the time one. • Phoenix took the orb from Catica and started to look. She rubbed at the two letters (to the right of the word time) revealing two inticate symbols. "Past and present," she said thoughtfully "I'll be right back," she stood up and left the room briefly She came back with a dark bottle and a soft cloth in one hand the orb still in the other. She sat on the couch again and opened the bottle, pouring some of its contents onto the rag, began to rub the dirt off of the orb. Soon the orb was dirt-free and appeared to be giving off its own soft green glow. "What do you make of these?"   • Catica begins fingering the connection. "Now taht is indeed strange. Perhaps we found this puzzle after it had already been completed. She takes a deep breath and holds it. Once she exhales she seems to have gotten a sudden burst of energy. • "Follow me!" Mackai says. She leads them between all of the occupied caves. People mill about them occupied by their own items of business. Mackai dodges through them. Soon the number of people they pass begins to thin out and eventually the hall is empty. Mackai stops and stretches to retrieve a torch from the wall. The hall in front of them begins to get darker. "Most people prefer to live near the front. It's more assesably or something." she says inventing her own word "There are accually a lot of empty caves but," she starts walking again "there's only one abandoned one." she continues walking silently for a moment.   • Jon's fairly familiar with this area. After all, he's had to hide several times, and the empty caves in this area had often proved useful. He'd gone pretty deep into these caves before...though he's never gone very far beyond where the torches end. "How much farther is it?" he asks curiously, walking next to Mackai. "I've allays wanted to come see how deep this place goes..." He doesn't mention that the only reason he hasn't is that he's always been alone and didn't like the thought of possibly getting lost, alone, deep in the caves. • Mackai nodded "Most of it but I've never been to the abandoned cave before. Someone just told me where it was." (ooc: I'm gonna speed this up) They walk on for a while until they come to the end of the homes. The cave goes on but there are no more homes. Mackai holds the torch up to ward of the eminent presence of the darkness. Kaleb gave a small shudder. She pointed to the very last cave "That's it," she said softly, though her voice still echoed in a creepy way, "Someone told me that along time ago all of these caves were filled. Then there was a war and a lot of people died. They moved to the front it was easier to get to everything from there. Before the wars though, the man that lived in that house just dissapeared.   • Jon's eyes are intently fixed on the cave. "Disappeared? Whoa..." He hesitates slightly, rather than rushing in; something about the cave exudes a mysterious, almost foreboding air...but his curiousity overwhelms him swiftly. "I wonder what happened to him, really?" he mused aloud, taking a step forward. Realizing that he was the only one to move forward, he stops and looks back at Mackai and Kaleb. "Well?" he asks.     • Mackai steps forward and creaks the door open; Kaleb follows behind her. Mackai holds up the torch to light the room. She sees other torches in brackets on the wall, she moves to light them. • Jon automatically begins poking around in corners and all the abandoned junk. "Nice sword..." he mutters, lifting the weapon with some effort before haphazardly [attempting to] swing it around. It's heavy though - a little too heavy for a scrawny boy his age - and he gives up after a second and more or less lets it drop, with a clang, to the ground before moving on to poke through abandoned clothes and such.   • "You're not alone on that," Jon mutters back to Mackai, glaring suspiciously at the figure. He's not planning on getting caught in something messy, but he senses he might have to step a little more carefully in order to avoid doing so. "Like what?" he demands of the figure. "I's not like you can make us do anythin', hidin' in your shadows like you are." Realizing that what he's just said isn't necessarily along the lines of 'careful', he cautiously adds, "And anyways, why's it matter so much that you know our names? • Mackai looked nervously at Jon then shifted her eyes to the door. Apparantly she had the same idea of running. The stranger smiles to herself. It had been a long time since she'd had any company. She stepped into the torchlight. She was fairly tall with wavy, jet black hair that fell to her waist. She was clad in a simple tunic and trousers. Both of which were a light brown. The most noticeable thing about her person were her strange eyes that were a golden-amber color that seemed almost to give off their own light. • Abigal finished grabbing her stuff and turned to Blue. "I think that by the time we get back to the forges he should be close to finishing. If not, then there are always time to use exploring." Her room was far from plain. She had obviously gone through a lot of effort to make her cave bright and colorful. The room is warm and cheerful, however, Abigal isn't the most organized person in the world so her room turns out to be bright and cheerful with a pinch of chaos. But that suits her just fine. Having a room as tidy as a filing cabinet is boring, this adds some excitement. After checking things over she heads toward the doorway where Blue is standing. "Snuddles could work. What do you think of these?" he shows off the shining footwear, "The only problem with 'em is they aren't waterproof. He then gently applies pressure to the center of the sole using his foot. Surprise! A thin blade nearly the length of the shoe darts out of the toe. It is a good dwarven boot, and the blade looks beaten, not sharpened. BIC: Chaos thinks for a moment, "Well, I was thinking about the dragon quest. I chose not to go when I younger, but now I'm ready and waiting." he gently removes the boots and sets them on the bed posts, "they're used as a weapon, and as a grip. If I'm disarmed, I'll kick my way out. I used to be pretty good at kicking. If I'm trapped or have to climb something, I can use the blades as a hold." He shrugs, "It seemed like a good idea at the time." Chaos then walks over to his cabinet and opens it. On each shelf is an array of test tubes and used paper, experimental notes and ingredients. • Lialye's expression turns stony and stiffly emotionless as soon as the word "docks" comes up, and she grits her teeth and tries to force all her attention on Chaos. It does not work wonderfully well, partly because her emotions are already so strained, partly because Chaos reminds her so much of her brother in some ways, and partly because Naverin comments on Lialye's strange behavior. Feeling herself choke up, Lialye manages nevertheless to keep some semblance of control over herself, merely turning her head away from watching Chaos and hiding it behind drawn-up knees, while the tears roll silently down her face and her shoulders shake with quiet sobs.
