Remember the 1999 movie "Varsity Blues"? Bud Kilmer's "Win at all costs"? It's not the first time the Massillon locals have done this. I talked to a former player on the 1979 state runner-up team and he told me about how the city let two Massillon players out of jail to play against the Bruins from Parma Padua Franciscan in the Division I state playoff championship game. In the end, the Catholic school had the right morals, and God HAD to be happy for the players, coaches, and fans of Padua: Padua 12, TIGERS 0!!!! MONSTER SHUTOUT!!!!! STUNNING UPSET!!!!!! They not only blanked Mike Currence's #1 offense and #1 defense in Division I, they jailed Massillon's state championship trophy, minus the get out of jail card. It's like this in three words: LAWBREAKERS DON"T WIN!!!!
P.S. New movie in theaters: "Massillon Laws", Rated D for Disgraceful content: Starring Mike Currence, Rick Shepas, the 17 year old player, Todd Meldrum, Steven Smith, and introducing one-time sex offender Marv Albert and all of Massillon. The movie takes place in Massillon, Ohio and a Massillon star has been charged with sexual assault. It is up to his mentor Marv Albert to get him out of jail and get the Tigers that elusive state title. What do you expect, Marv was a sex offender too. Bonus clips from Kentucky. Remember Lonnie Wheeler's book "Blue Yonder"? Well, Mr. Wheeler ought to write, "Orange & Black Ponder" and talk about how Massillon players can't keep their hands off on girls. They may end up like Catholic priests, but in a more malevolent, disgraceful manner........you don't see or hear Bulldogs sexually assaulting girls...take this you Massillon sons-of-monsters!!
