I recently aquired a Julie Doll myself, and all I did was put 4 new C batteries in her battery compartment, and she talked right away! I did not have to do anything. She does have a computerized place in her battery compartment where the cassette or voice card plugs in, and she also has a couple of metal fingertips on her right hand where I was told she could read along with her specially designed book.
I have been looking for the special tapes/books for her, and I haven't found any so far. She is from the 1980's, 1986, I think.Wish you luck.
