Subject: Whats up my SD Street Racing friends?

Hey my racer friends, I've been out of state for a few years now and I came back to San Diego for the holidays this year and one of the first things I wanted to do was check out the street racing scene because I just loved the good 'ol days hanging out with Rico, Curt, EC, the wicked stang boys (hahha just kidding), and the rest up at Togos on Balboa. Well I didn't even need to go by there to know that place isn't happening anymore but I hit up some of the recommended SD spots like Clairmont, CV, San Marcos etc. and yeah there was some action going on but I just really long for the days like it used to be with curt dog sawing off anything and everything just for the hell of it. That purple people eater Nova rolling out with Rico's support truck right behind full of slicks and fuel jugs and nitrous bottles. Man those were the good old days. So I got to see some action with some of the old timers but things have changed. Theres not a whole lot of takers at the raceds so the fast cars have resorted to racing sport bikes. I got to admit it's pretty sad thatyou cant drum up a simple heads up race anymore and you have to resort to sawing off "go die" bikes. So was I just at the wrong place or what? Where are the races poppin off now? Where is this Country Road thing I am reading about and how can I check it out? It seems like things just aren't like they used to be whereas where I live its still going off like it never skipped a beat. maybe not to the extent like it was here back in the day but its steady where I live.

Hey buddy, how you been? things have definitely changed in the street racing scene in SD. There are still several meet spots like you pointed out but the big races go off by appointment only. When the police show up they have been very courteous telling us to take it someplace else. Racing against sport bikes is boring, My Z06 takes out pretty much anything without ever touching the spray. Really big races are being taken to points north or east of San Diego. Country road is still hitting hard from what I hear. They have their own board which is some super wazoo encrypted dealio. LA action was absolutely insane this last month. More 9 second drivers that I've ever seen in my life, about a dozen 8 second cars (half driver, half trailer cars) and even a few 7 second cars made it out. I could not believe my eyes. action was absolutely insane. races were set up for $5k minimum just to get the car off the trailer and a few $10K races among the hard core. Cops were also extending courtesy and gave plenty of time to relocate to a new spot, telling racers exactly how long it would be before they could make it there. lots of racing fans among them too. Anyway I hope you and the family are well. Take it easy.

Thanks for the info. You were right. street racing usually goes in cycles and comes back every 10 years but it seems to have started early this time around. I like how you talk your way out of EVERY time you get pulled over. Rico you are a real pro. The County road board is pretty sick. it reminds me of the old Rankin Road (remember that?) board. the Crazy Mexi's, Serg H. all the Calipatria crew...Bad ASS cars guys!!!!!

Thanks for a great time. I guess i reallly need to get my junk put back together with my new bullet. it sure has been distracting driving a 10 second daily driver.
