Do you want to come and play with the Big boyz? Out here our rules are this " There are no SISSY rules" Run what cha brung. We could care less if you have five chutes 10 wheelie bars and a jet rocket strapped to the back of your machine. If you got the balls to run it, then you have the balls to win it! We dont listen to crybabys, whinners or other fairys that try and handicap heads up racing! Most of you know about the date we set up, looking forward to yet another great turn out, again. If you dont know about it? Theres a reason why? But just dont hold you breath waiting for a answer.

  • New Dyno Shop is open! -- Bart grande, Thursday, June 13, 06:51:51pm
I have posted this on a few sites in town so you may see it elsewhere......sorry if it feels like SPAM, that is not my intent, just trying to get the word out.
    Good Morning!

My name is Bart Grande and I just opened a chassis dyno shop in Oceanside named "GodSpeed Dyno Works". And I was out searching the web looking for San Diego based car clubs and found this site.. ....To start I feel I have the best chassis dyno available on the market and have a desire to build a reputable tuning shop. I want EVERY customer to be thrilled with our service and product. I am familiar with Motec, Haltech, Electromotive, SDS, Accel DFI, and LOVE to twist on a Weber, Dellorto or Holley.I am also a UniChip dealer...If you are curious how much HP and torque your car makes or feel that the your motor is not living up to its true potential give me a call.

Below is a quick summary of what a chassis dyno is and some specifics on my dyno

to start there is 2 types of dynos.

the first is a inertia dyno, most dynos out there are these type(the most notable being DynoJet). you strap your car on the dyno, go through the gears at WOT and you will have a torque curve and HP numbers. this is the type you see used in magazines to compare products. these have been around a long time and have their limited uses.

the next type of dyno is the steady state dyno. this can do everything that the inertia dyno can do AND also load can be applied to the dyno drum to allow for steady state tuning....the difference between the various types of steady state dynos is how the load is applied to the drum. many apply the load manually via the operator turning a knob....ideally you want the computer to apply the load, this allows for more accuracy and repeatability.

so what is so special about MY dyno? before I answer that you have to think about what you are really trying to accomplish on a chassis dyno.......I see it as...you are attempting to simulate various driving conditions for YOUR vehicle while collecting data and measuring results............so what separates one vehicle from another? WEIGHT!! the inertia(weight of the drums) needs to match the weight of your vehicle, and that is the difficult part, all performance dynos out there have an equivalent inertia weight of approx 3000 lbs...so if you strap your car to one of these the load being placed on your drivetrain and motor is the equivalent of the load placed on a vehicle weighing 3000lbs. and since this is not the conditions your vehicle will encounter why tune in these conditions??......so I worked with Mustang Dynamometer to create a chassis dyno with variable inertia so I can ACCURATELY simulate inertia for a car that is as light as 1300lbs and up to the weight of a duallie. It also compensates for wind resistance so the faster you spin the drums the more load is applied, and this is vehicle specific. So the extra load being applied to the drum when an 911 is on the dyno is going to be less than if there was a SUV.(drop me aline if you are curious how this works)

what test can we do? HP, Torque, WOT, acceleration, 1/4 mile(accurate to 2%), and about any other test you can think of! and accurately repeat these over and over.

what data? wide band O2, EGT, 5 gas, boost, manifold vacuum, head temp, oil temp, etc etc.......

The information acquired from the data acquisition system is awesome! Being able to replicate any driving condition and then reviewing all of the data is extremely informative and allows us to identify the weak points of the motor combination

Drop me a line at bart@teamgodspeed.com or check out the website at www.teamgodspeed.com. the website is still under construction, but it should give you an idea of the type of shop I am trying to put together. My goal as a business owner is to have the BEST dyno and the BEST service available!

... Also feel free to drop by the shop anytime. If a group of you want a tour of the shop, let me know and I will schedule an hour or so to discuss dynos with you and do a little "bench racing"!

    Peace..............BartG

  • Shooting @ Irwindale Raceway -- LilCRXgurl, Friday, August 16, 10:56:56pm
Found this on three other message boards and thought i would post for all to see, sad thing to happen.

    From KTLA:
One Dead, Two Wounded in Raceway Shooting
    Alex Darsen
    KTLA-TV Newswriter

    August 16, 2002, 8:55 AM PDT

IRWINDALE -- Police arrested one suspect Friday morning, following a deadly shooting at the Irwindale Speedway.

About 2,000 spectators were in the grandstand Thursday night watching drag races among private parties. Suddenly, they heard what was thought to be engine backfires, but that turned out to be gunshots.

Two men and a woman were hit. One of the men later died at a hospital.

Witnesses say the violence broke out when someone in the bleachers threw a bottle and hit someone below. There was a confrontation and shots then rang out.

Some spectators pointed out the suspects to police. They were trying to leave the lot in an SUV, but were stopped and taken into custody. After several hours of questioning, Irwindale police identified Ramon Reyes, 20, of Los Angeles as the triggerman.

The Thursday night event is designed to get drag race enthusiasts way from speeding on local streets and onto a real racetrack. The event is endorsed by the Irwindale Police Department, and officials say the races will continue despite the violence.

    From KNBC:

One Killed, Two Wounded At Drag Racing Event
    Five Individuals Arrested

    POSTED: 8:27 a.m. PDT August 16, 2002
    UPDATED: 8:50 a.m. PDT August 16, 2002

IRWINDALE, Calif. -- A shooting at a legal drag racing event at the Irwindale Speedway has left one person dead and two others wounded.

Police say the gunman and four accomplices have been arrested after trying to leave the racetrack. Their identities have not been released.

Authorities say gunshots rang out shortly after 10 Thursday night, when a man shot and killed another male spectator, then opened fire on a couple.

The man died at the scene, while the couple were taken to a hospital and listed in stable condition. Police have not released the victims' identities.

More than a thousand people attended "Thursday TNT," a cooperative program between law enforcement agencies and the National Hot Rod Association.

It aims at attracting illegal street racers to compete in legal drag racing at the speedway.

Thanks to everyone for making our last event the biggest ever. We will be correcting some of the initial problems we faced with that big of a crowd :) We now have Sunday, Sept 15th for our next Safe Racing "Off the Streets and On Track" event of 2002. Gates open at 8am, racing starts a little after 9 going to 3:30 or 4pm. All imports, domestics and motorcycles are welcome. At the moment there is no club or group that is featured, so if your interested please let us know ASAP. We have also found it necessary to raise our price five dollars to $20 for participants, with all people paying the $12 gate fee. Being a non-profit organization does make it difficult at times to keep everything going, especially as we grow, but we do plan on making things better and increasing the value of your racing dollars. As always we love to see both domestics and imports participating in our events. And of course we always appreciate it when you pass the word on. Thanks for being with us, and for your support of Safe Racing. See our web site www.saferacing.org or call Safe Racing Association (SRA) at 858-558-9492 for more information. SRA is a San Diego non-profit organization dedicated to promoting a safe, structured racing alternative to illegal street racing for both youths and adults.

It wasn't worth our time to bring the car up to the lot when all that was left was a Lightning and a Viper, not nearly what I call competition, fast in their own respect, but not what we had in mind. Racing is alive and well... Went to the "Country Road" and met up with a few cars, got some more rubber down on the launch pad. CHP stopped by to see what was going on but had to just watch from the other side of the fence. (lol. I love this place already) They stuck around for quite a while and even chatted with some of the spectators about the good 'ol days of racing. Then they left but not without a warning to "keep it small and keep it clean". They were pretty cool about it... for now. Several other cars stopped or slowed down to watch the action from the shoulder of the road. (hope this doesnt cause problems). Anway, after about 15 or so passes, we packed up and headed back to the city. Got to Togos just in time to see how stupid it was. Went to the "old strip" and saw your basic Mustang and Camaro fest until the cops did a drive by and scared everybody off. F this, Time to go hit an SDSR party up in north county.

Private property is not a boundary for the police. There are other considerations in your scenario. Is the property open to the public? Are the police summoned to the location by a call for assistance or report if a crime? Are the police investigating an incident or person?

These and other factors play a part in determining if police have access

  • JACK DOLAN BEHIND THE CURT BUST -- WELL CONNECTED, Thursday, February 28, 08:36:30pm
ITS TRUE, JACK DOLAN PLAYED A ROLE IN CURTS ARREST. I HAVE THE PROOF NOW.

I WOULD ADVISE STAYING AWAY FROM THE RACELEGAL EVENTS AT QUALCOMM STADIUM AT ALL COSTS WHETHER YOU ARE RACING OR SPECTATING.

THE POLICE MAY BE USING THAT EVENT TO GATHER INTELLIGENCE ON STREETRACERS

  • Recap of Saturday Night 2/16 -- Rico, Sunday, February 17, 03:24:03am
Well it started out to be slow night. a lot of people went up north to hit the streets (somebody please recap that) but Curt stayed around looking for Bo and the nitrous Viper. Apparently the Viper was not satisfied with losing $$$ last time and felt the need to lose some more. He bumped his N2O shot up and got him a new pair of ET streets too. Got up to the lot at 10ish just in time to see the cops kicking everbody out. went to Diane Plaza and hung out for a while. Ricky showed up and he hung out while the scouts went looking for the Viper. Back at Togo's still no Bo or Viper. long story short(er) we end up meeting up with Viper at the old track. Pass one, (the motor pass): I cant believe how hard the TA hooks now. Competition engineering slide-a-links all the way!!! Viper gets smoked BAD. Pass two: another hard launch and the Viper gets 4 cars put on him easy. Viper is sure he can get curt on pass 3. Curt feels bad for Viper and starts helping him with tire pressure. Then some nice guys packed into a Toyota Camry drive by and give us the tip off. COPS!!! We all start taking off. I pull out of the driveway and Viper man whips a U and almost takes me out. Cop pulls in behind me but then just pulls over. Cool cop didn't bust anybody, just scared them all off.
