Here, here, Danny.

I'm looking forward to the Port Gibson event for several reasons. First, it is yet another way we can help with preservation. Second, it is in the state I grew up in a lived most of my life, so that's kind of special. Third, two of three units the TMLHA regularly has an impression for (the 26th and 77th Illinois) both were in the Vicksburg campaign, and Port Gibson was pretty much the start of the final push to take the Mississippi. To walk over ground which has remained relatively unspoiled since our ancestors fought there is something we just don't get to do much anymore these days.

Therefore, I, myself, am making this my big event for the spring. I hope to linger a day after the weekend, if anything, to explore the area more, including a trip through the Vicksburg National Military Park. If anyone is interested, we can talk at Twigg's this Saturday, or at Mansfield on the Ides of March. If possible, I think this event would be a great one for maximum effort of participation and support.

(off soapbox now)

Carry on,

Your humble and obedient key loser (though now I have two keys for Pleasant Hill),
