Might I suggest "A Wisconsin Boy in Dixie", which is regarding the letters of James K. Newton, also of the 14th Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry. The 14th was split; with one detachment serving under Sherman, the other along the Mississippi. I believe both are in print. >
