Subject: August TMLHA Event

Pards,

Don and I were talking last week about the possibility of having an August TMLHA event. There usually isn't all that much going on reenacting-wise in August-- which is deepressing-- so it might be nice to start planning somthing. Rather than doing a living history or an immersion, our thought was to host a "TMLHA Campaigner College" event (yes, the concept for this event is being strongly borrowed from what the Salt River Rifles will be doing out at Pickett's Mill later this year). It would be a small-scale gig, but we could go over things such as:

* The histories of the 15th Texas and the 77th Illinois,
* Period cooking,
* How and what to sew while in camp,
* Roundtable discussion about improving firper,
* The spectacular nuances between early-, mid-, and late-war Federal shelter halves.

These are just a few ideas that I'm throwing out here. But before pursuing this idea any further, is there any interest in having an event like this? Also, if we were to do such an event, what types of course topics would you like to see covered?

On a final note, the idea is to have this event in Texas, perhaps at Ft. Parker near Mexia.
