Subject: MARCH SECOND!

Not Civil War related but holds a place dear to my heart;

The Republic of Texas was born on March 2, 1836 when a delegation at Washington-on-the-Brazos adopted the Texas Declaration of Independence. Four days later, the Alamo fell to Santa Anna. On March 27, over 300 unarmed Texans were massacred at Goliad. But on April 21 at the Battle of San Jacinto, Santa Anna met defeat and for almost 10 years Texas was an independent nation.

As a true native Texan, my family has been here since it was Mexico :) , I would like to remind everyone that Texas Independence Day is Saturday, and ask that we all take a moment to think about the sacrifices that made the great state we live in.
