It looks like we'll be portraying the 159th New York at the Port Hudson event. The 159th was part of the fabled New Englad Division: the same division (19th Corps, really) that the boys of the 77th Illinois refered to as "paper collar dudes" and "headquarters pimps" during the Red River Campaign. These are just a few links that I came across doing a simple search on the Internet. I'm sure that there are some more things out there. I did notice that there are three histories of the 159th out there, and will peek into the UT library to see if they have anything. For the uninitiated, reading this stuff will help the firper impressions in the interpretive area.

I might add that I have it on good authority that the snakes and vipers are aplenty at the site.
