Subject: May TMLHA Event

Pards,

The next TMLHA living history at Mansfield will be on the weekend of 17, 18, 19 May. Please contact Don or myself as soon as possible if you are interested in or planning to participate. We need to have our numbers set soon so that we can let the park know how many rations will be needed.

Unlike previous events, we plan on being approved by the park to fire our muskets. Each participant must furnish a clean, properly working musket and demonstrate safe handling of the weapon in order to be approved by park. This inspection will happen Saturday morning following the authenticity inspection. As we may be firing during the scenario it goes without saying to bring cartridges. I would recommend bringing anywhere between 20 to 40 rounds. With this being said, we don't know if there will be firing or not... it all depends on the way relations develop between the lines.

This TMLHA event will also include a preservation component. Plan towards the end of Sunday morning (when the scenario ends) to participate in a litter pick-up walk over the Alfred Mouton Trail and other areas of the park. Just as preservation involves saving land from developments, it also includes making our hallowed grounds look clean.

That's basically the news for now for this TMLHA event. As always, please don't hesitate to contact Don or myself if you have any questions. It looks like our numbers for this event will be larger than before. In addition to a greater number of participants, we hope that the fair May weather will bring out a larger batch of spectators to see the 15th Texas and 77th Illinois in action. Bully for that.

PS. There may be a "Brother Maynard's Birthday is a Few Days Away" observance Friday night.
