Bellmead, like we knew it would be, was Farb Heaven, but, as Dusty stated, we had a good time inspite of it. I can not praise too much the fine hospitality of the good folks in Bellmead. They went far and above (again) in providing for our needs. And singing around the campfire with our secesh brothers was a grand experience, even if my vocal abilities were not appreciated! :-)

For the event itself, calvary and artillery outnumbered infantry (so it seemed). We counted 15 cannon and a Gatlin gun on the field. The 26th followed our creed of 100% casualties, 100% of the time. Downside: Very little interaction with the public for some reason. No one came around asking questions.

I must also confess that Gus and your's truly were written up in inspection for not having our full compliment of 40 rounds. For this we made good sport of by having to stand before the US Infantry commander and give and account of our selfs.

And our boy Gus carried himself like a true veteran! Some of the fresh fish were running round with there canteens slung helter skelter and breast plate squarely in the middle of their back. Gus watch and learned quickly.

Regarding Cross Timbers: We learned that if you arrive before noon Friday, they are making a movie to be used by a new museum, and they are paying $50 bucks for your time.
