Why beat around the bush? Basically, here's the deal. Mike Ventura, a moderator on the Authentic Campaigner message boards, is telling everyone who asks that for making your own oilcloth, the only safe way to do it is to use latex paint. Ordinarily, I wouldn't speak up, but that is a well-respected site, and for a moderator to be spreading farby misinformation was just too much for me.

What's been happening is that when I post a disagreement pointing out what a farby attitude that is, worrying only about the superficial appearance of an item is, Mike Ventura deletes my posts, claiming the "no condescending posts" rule of the AC boards, all the while, he's breaking the "no farbism" rule.

My first clue that the Authentic Campaigner website and message boards were not the mecca for authentics as it claims came when the notices for the Liendo carpe eventum were moved to the Sinks because someone pointed out there would be farbs there. Duh. For those of us who went to Perryville, were there not at least as many farbs? And trust me, they were just as bad as any seen at Liendo. Perryville discussions were never moved to The Sinks. Personally, I had more fun at Liendo, anyways. At least we made an attempt at first person out there. Then, after this latex debate, I'm personally losing faith in the Authentic Campaigner message board as a reliable place to exchange information on being authentic.
