Greetings Chums,
I too have noticed some "condescending attitudes" on that board, and most of which have come from the moderators. Granted, not ALL moderators but a few here and there. I still see the AC site as a vast wealth of information, resources, a place to buy or sell used goods, etc. However, some of the attidudes and replys on the message board are just horrific. When someone asks a simple question about a particular piece of equipment, many times they are trounced on, bashed for asking stupid questions, called a farb, etc. This is not acceptable in my book. When someone asks a question, it shows they are willing to learn and improve. Afterall, isn't that ambition and desire to do things right what separates authentics from farbs to begin with? NO ONE should be bashed when they have an obvious desire to do things right. If that was the kind of responses I had received when I first began my quest to become more authentic, I would have been thoroughly disgusted and said "hell with it, these guys are all a**holes." It's those types that give the authentic movement a bad name and it reflects upon all of us. Let's face it guys, no matter what people say about authentics, people do look to us for inspiration and guidance. Many of the posters and/or moderators (not meant towards anyone specific) on that board have been banned from other boards for their attitudes and of course we've seen them complain about that on the AC site. Yet, here they are doing the same thing. Perhaps an email and/or phone call to Paul C. may be in order if this continues? A message board is designed for a free exchange of ideas and open discussion. The only time I would ever consider removing a post is if it's a personal attack, suggests illegal actions, blatant racism or anything along those lines. Just because someone disagrees is NO reason to close a discussion. A free and open exchange of ideas and information has pushed the authenticity to the high level it is now. Therefore, in my humble opinion, we should continue to do things as right as we know how, strive to better ourselves, and encourage others with helpful suggestions and positive reinforcement. Those of us that have followed that board for awhile know who the individuals are who are willing to answer questions. So my suggestion is that if there's something specific we would like information about, contact that person directly. Most of the reputable individuals have email or can be reached by phone. And of course, we have to keep being the buncha swell guys that we are and show the fence-sitters that we're really not all a bunch of anal rententive button-whizzing kooks. Just my two cents...

Corn
