Definite agreement about moderators. I feel that at least one, and possibly two are abusing and misusing their power on the AC to better forward their own opinions. Personally, I wonder about the authenticity standards of someone who's anal enough to care about machine-punched holes (to ensure proper spacing, no less), yet will use a blatantly 20th Century product (latex paint) to make an oilcloth, when better alternatives are available. He kept deleting my posts with the excuse of the "no condescending posts" rule, all the while ignoring the "no farbism" rule.

Ordinarily, I like to avoid pissing matches. However, like I said in a post on the AC (not even sure if it's still there), I wouldn't have said anything at all had not a moderator of a prestigious website where quite a few people go for advice and knowledge was spouting off that a very farby construction method was the ONLY "safe" and "just as authentic" way of making an oilcloth. Of course, the "experts" disagreed with me all over the place until finally Don shut them up by posting an original recipe that's at least as safe as latex paint, and totally unfarby.

I'll take your word about Eastern events. Farthest east I've been for an event was Gburg 135th. I had a blast at Perryville, and the LH at Mansfield we've done twice now has been AMAZING so far. I can't wait to go back! I just never believe those announcements the easterners put out saying, "if you claim to be progressive or more, you HAVE to come to this event to prove it." Nonsense. I'm not driving a thousand miles for something I can do right here, and probably do better.
