Way back in season uno during the Periculum Sara said the world was insane (or something) and Joan was like insane/unclean your task/purpose to cleans the world. They could of alluded to that when Sara 'lost' the blade and everybody started going insane/murder happy.
That doesn't make as much sense as it did in my head. I'll try again. They could have had Sara flash-back to talking with Joan, jog her memory a bit, remember that's she's 'on a mission from God'. Something to tie this season in with, well, anything. It's too late at night, err, early in the morning.
( I'm posting again! I must be ill, probably from the Ian,Lucy hallway scene :-q )
