Subject: Dutch EIC

The Dutch EIC was quite a large trading company in East Asia with a considerable large fleet. In the first part of the 17th century she fought against the Spanish and Portugese and EIC ships were used in the Anglo Dutch Wars (especially the First) as warships. Yearly many ships departed for the East or were returning. Shipbuilding was ruled. The Dutch navy wasn't always able to protect the EIC ships and from the beginning they were armed. The EIC is ofen compared in contemporary documents with being a naval force, her own shipslist even are called List of Naval Force.
