Some of these vessels were wrecked off our coastline including the Batavia - 1628 which has been salvaged. The port aft section of the hull is on display in the Fremantle Maritime Museum together with a lot of artifacts and some of her canon. Research has been carried out on other VOC wrecks too (Zuytdorp, Zeewijk, Vergulde Draeck).
