Subject: Auguste / Prins van Oranje 1814

The former French SoL Auguste was ceded to Holland in 1814.
It was a Tonnant class 80-gunner launched April 25, 1811 in Antwerp.
By Royal order of August 1, 1815, a ship called Auguste was renamed Prins van Oranje. ( Captain Wolterbeek and/or Lewe van Aduard )

Other sources state the Auguste was one of twelve SoL's France was allowed to keep by treaty and the vessel was transferred to Brest. ( Not to be used again )

The Borée-class 74 Danzig/Dantzick (ex-Illustre, later Achille) is somehow also emerging as going to Holland

Can somebody help out on the (true) history of L'Auguste/Prins van Oranje ?

Does anybody have a list of the 12 treaty ships ?

What was the (true) fate of Danzig/Dantzick ?

kind regard,
Roy Metselaars
