Very enlightening, certainly I had never found any referecne to the 'Marinha de Goa' before. Following your lead I have found a Portugese book with snippets online 'História de Goa', https://books.google.co.uk/books?id=hytaeRVPFhQC&pg=PA203#v=onepage&q&f=false.

The link takes you to a page which lists the vessels of the force, I think in 1773 (but could easlily have misunderstood that).

It lists two Nau of 64 & 48 guns, 3 frigates of 44, 38 & 30 guns, a Pala of 24, two corvettes (14) and 21 smaller vessels.

Maybe an 80-gunnner in 1804 isn't so unlikely.
