The ship was Bedr-i Zafer and the action with Seahorse took place on 5 July 1808. Bedr-i Zafer certainly carried plenty of guns: 2 36-pdrs, 8 24-pdrs, 20 18-pdrs and (on the upper deck) 22 12-pdrs according to William James. Length on the keel was 53 zira which is about 40.1 m or 131 ft 9 in. In size it was therefore similar to the larger Western frigates of the time and the guns were bronze so not as heavy as iron guns. The corvette accompanying Bedr-i Zafer, Ateş Feşan, was also heavily armed with 24 bronze 12-pdrs and 2 mortars according to James again.
