I would be careful about drawing any conclusions from what William James says about the armament of a foreign ship. His assertion that French 74's all had 24-pounders on their upper gun decks is false according to French data, and his information about Swedish armament picked up a proposal by af Chapman that was never adopted. Since Badr-i Zefir was captured by Seahorse, British officers had a chance to survey her armament and inform their colleagues and superiors about it, but James does not have footnotes to sources, so whether he got the armament from Captain Stewart or a published report by him is uncertain. He liked to assume the highest armament he could about enemy ships the British fought.
