Dave was cook for company 84TH EBC V.C.killed my best Dan Pin`a on guard post#3 by cutting his throat and dropping a grenade on him for good measure the no good ####### gooks once they got on to the base they tied satchel charges to some of our hootches and detonated them and stood on a knoll betweeen my hoootch and the cooks hootch with AK47s shooting up the hootches and all the men running out to the sand bag bunkers as we thought we were under attack with incoming motar very sadly many men were badly injured and killed Dave and several others were medivaced and i know Dave went to his maker a couple of weeks later Dave was a great guy always up beat and joking around this country and its citizens for the most part doesn`t have a clue how lucky it is to have the dedicated men and women of military that it has especially the men like Dave and Dan and the 10 of thousands military persons that gave their all to a country that i feel sadly doesn`t appreciate it!!! i forgot to mention that we were proud members of co. c of the 84th engineer battalion i hope this helps and it makes sense as this is an unbelievably difficult memory and story to recall GOD bless Ron Newell
