Yeh Rich, there was an orphanage to the left, my buddy Thompson and I used to take a couple of the kids with us when we went to Spanish Beach for a BBQ. Gave them some time away and had some fun. China Beach PX had to be between 2-4 miles from there. I was with the 536th Engr. in 70-71 attached to the 84th, then I transfered over to "A" Co. because my last few months there I went in the mess hall as an OJT cook. Do you remember Sgt. Mims?
