Post 326 A: Hardin (Harden) G. Dugger

Hardin G. Dugger is one of my ancestors. He was born in 1840 in Tennessee, the son of Henry Dugger, born 1809 in Ashe County N.C., and Sarah Green, who was also born in North Carolina.

In the U.S. Census of 1850 Henry Dugger is shown as the father of:
Eliza E. Dugger, age 15, (F) born in N.C.
Wiley Dugger, age 13, (M) born in Tenn.
Hardin Dugger, age 10, (M) born in Tenn.
Enoch H. Dugger, age 7, (M) born in Tenn.
Ferney P. Dugger, age 2, born in Tenn.

A Civil War pension can be found for Hardin Dugger at:
http://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/N4Y8-96X

He apparently served as a Union soldier, as did his son Hardin G. Dugger.

Henry Dugger died before January 28, 1868.

Hardin G. Dugger died April 27, 1927 at his home in Grass Valley, Sherman Oregon, in the company of his wife Nancy A. Dugger, age 86, and daughter Hattie Dugger, age 62.

"H*Dugger" is shown in the Census of 1900 as living in the town of Bridgeport, Jackson County, Alabama, with:
Wife: Nancy A. Dugger, age 60.
Daughter: Hattie E. Dugger, age 35.
Son: Marrion A. Dugger, age 25.

Unfortunately, many Dugger descendants stop listing the children of Hardin G. Dugger after the 1870 Census.
My ancestor, Andrew Linnville Dugger or Linnville Andrews Dugger was born in 1872.

The 1880 U.S. Census for Putnam County, Tennessee, page 107, (203,228) shows:

Harden Dugger, age 40.
Wife: Nancy Dugger, age 39.
Dau: Emly Dugger, age 16
Dau: Harret Dugger, age 15
Son: William Dugger, age 12.
Son: Andrew Dugger, age 9.
Dau: Mary Dugger, age 7.
Son: Marion Dugger, age 5.
Dau: Lillis Dugger, age 3.

Hardin G. Dugger or "Hardin Green Dugger" was an ancestor I had accidentally left off of the genealogical Chart of Post 313 C:.
Hardin G. Dugger, my great-great grandfather, should have been in position 51. on Post 313 C: as the son of Henry Dugger.

When I looked on line and found no evidence of Hardin Dugger with a son named Linnville or Andrew from pages created by my obvious relatives I began to doubt myself. Was I wrong in listing him as an ancestor? But wait! I have an original photograph of Hardin Dugger given to me by my grandmother, Rosa Grace Dugger Barnes. It has written across the back in my grandmother's handwriting "Hardin G. Dugger." If we're not descendants, what are we doing with an original photograph of Hardin G. Dugger dated to about 1900 to 1920?

I had not bothered to dig up much genealogical paperwork on Hardin because I had always just assumed him to be an ancestor. I had not taken into account with all the genealogical crackpots running around, one can never assume anything.

About My being descended from Charlemagne and the Merovingians. See these articles:

I'll try to produce a new chart just as soon as I have time.
