Post 357 A: Dear Penny,

My J2b1b DNA is from my mother's side of my line, (mtDNA) - mitochondrial DNA. As far as I have been able to run that DNA back is to Catherine Goodhart/ Goodhard/ Gotthard/ Gottard, abt. 1762-1828. She was the wife of Johann William Bost, 1738-1823. Her last name could have also been Barnhart.

The Barnes family is found heralding from Kent, England. This is the area the Romans deported a tribe of Frisians to in the 2nd century AD. It's very possible that the Barnes to whome you as I are descended are Frisian from what is today the Netherlands and Belgium. The were from the low-lying region between the Rhine-Meuse-Scheldt delta and the River Ems. They were related to the Chauci, Saxons and Angles tribes. In other words, Anglo-Saxons. The Barnes Y-DNA is typically R1b1a2.

Catherine Goodhart Bost is buried at Old Saint Pauls Lutheran Church Cemetery in Catawba County, North Carolina. There is also a Will from John Godhard on WikiTree. It names his daughter "Catherine [sic] Hess, wife of William Hess." I have to believe she is related to Goddard Family of The Lawns estate in Swindon, England. They were established in Wiltshire and Hampshire and the western part of Berkshire, between the Tudor period and the modern era.

Working with another researcher I was able to establish a tentative descend and relationship between Catherine Goodhart/ Gottard and this Goddard family of the Swindon estate and of Upper Upham House, near Aldbourne.

There is a site for them on Wikipedia entitled: " Goddard family."

I hope this helps.
