Subject: Is 23 especially young for gall bladder surgery?

I am going to turn 23 in three weeks and I just found out I will have to have my gall bladder removed. I've been reading about this condition and it seems like most people don't get it until they're 40 something. I am extremely overweight and both of my parents had to have their gall bladders out in their 40's. My dad had something like 150 gall stones, more than they'd ever seen.

So my questions is, am I a total loser, freak for having to have this surgery at such a young age? Because I certainly feel like one. I think my hereditary disposition is partly to blame, but I have a shitty diet that most likely contributed a lot to the problem. I feel very ashamed and embarassed to have to have this surgery at such a young age. Not to mention that I am already in debt and really don't need the added expense.

It is probably too late now. But if I was you I would look at doing liver flushing before you do surgery. You have absolutely nothing to lose. You are young that is in your favour to make it work better. It will also help with your weight and if you put your total focus into it (the only way to successfully do a flush) then you will definitely improve your weight situation if nothing else. So this then means if you do still end up in surgery you will be in better shape to recover from the surgery.

Look at the liver flushing forum on www.curezone.com. I am not affiliated or anything like that, I've done my flushes and they helped me.

cheers..

I'm sure by now you've had this done already but don't feel bad about it. I'm only 20 years old and I just had this procedure done last week (hence why I'm looking at this message board to see what other people have gone through.) I am not really overweight...and didn't even know I had family who had this procedure done until after I was diagnosed. My doctors said that it is something that just happens and no one can really tell what definitely causes it.

Like all the others who have replied to your question most likely you've had your surgery and have a whole set of new questions that need answers. I was 20 when I had my surgery in March 1990 right before they ok'd the new way of taking out your gallbladder. Unlike others I didn't have all the normal symtoms although I did look 4 months pregnant,
kept a fever and had severe stomach pains after certain meals. I had to be rushed to the ER where I was totally out of it. I was was passing out from pain till finally they dicovered the problem. I was told if I had waited any longer before coming in I wouldn't be here today. After surgery I went from size 12 to a size 7 due to loss of appetite and the constant going to the bathroom after every meal but I was still healthy. So you are not a total loser because I'm not. It might work to your advantage. Good luck!
