I had mine removed in August 2003. To this day I will never forget what I went thru before and after....pain, nausea, diahrreaaaa!!! Good news tho, I have good days and bad days but it will GET BETTER.. It takes approximately one year, but your body will adjust to missing that organ. Give it time and enjoy the good days, even with my bad days I realize they are not as awful as before the surgery.

I had my gallbadder taken out in 1993 when I was 18 years old and for me it hasn't got any better. I still haven't found the trigger foods and I get tired of worrying about what to order when I'm out with my friends and then trying to stay near a bathroom after the meal. And how long will it take for the diarrea to kick in? For some reason it's always after the resteraunt in the car in traffic or for the first 10 minutes of the movie I've been wanting to see. I think I could just have water and it would do it. And could anyone tell me how it gets through so fast?

I always get the same symptoms especially in the car my husband tells me it is all in my head and I have found no single food that affects it some days are great some are terrible I have tried fiber therapy and immodium I also found a reason why it may be happening the sphincter of oddi which malfunctions when the gall bladder is removed check it out n the web I have been living with this for over four years the dr says I should up my fiber in my diet I have tried everything now I have no med ins so I have to just live on immodium I guess constipation is better than diarrea
